Barry Allen The Flash

(from the little boys' room).

Welcome to part 2

of my epic rave party

BARRY'S BASH

"Dance With The Flash"

It's time for you to meet more of my friends
and dance to more cool clubworthy sounds.

IRIS WEST

I'm Iris West. Detective Joe West's daughter
and the on again - off again GF of Barry Allen.
In the summer of 2008, R&B artist Solange,
(Solange Knowles) recorded a song she
co-wrote entitled "Sandcastle Disco."
Just before Christmas that year Solange's
single hit the top of the Hot Dance Club
chart. Solange made her directorial
debut with the following music video.

PATTY SPIVOT

I'm Patty Spivot, forensic-blood analyst
for the Central City P.D. and Detective
Joe West's protégée and partner.

Move over Iris because I'm crushin' on
Barry big time. In early 2006, New York
R&B, hip hop and EDM artist Kelis released
"Bossy," a sizzling single featuring rapper
Too $hort. "Bossy" brushed the top 10
on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and was
certified double platinum by Christmas.

the dang thing on and it killed a bunch of
innocent citizens and saddled others with
super powers they didn't want. My bad.
From Wales comes our next musical act.
Amie Ann Duffy, stage name Duffy, is a

to achieve mainstream success. In 2006,

    1. Hi, Alex!

Thanks for being the early bird again this week, good buddy. I appreciate your hustle!

You're right. I enjoy doing parody posts on my favorite TV series and movies. They allow me to "kill two birds with one stone" - share with friends the stuff I like to watch along with the stuff I enjoy listening to.

Thanks again for coming by, good buddy Alex, and have a great week!

  2. Tom,

Excellent second part! Your first three artist selections are new-to-me. I'm very interested in hearing more of Solange's mewsic, so I'm going to YouTube after I leave her to sample more of her tunes. I don't like rap artists even when their in a remix featuring someone I like, like JLo. I prefer to hear Jennifer as a solo artist in this case. Britney Spears has good vocals and stage presence. I think I've heard 'Circus' before but it's been awhile so I appreciated the reintroduction. I often forget about some of these more current tunes. I did enjoy this Flash dance and I appreciate you checking in on DH. He's doing very well. Have a tunetastic week, my friend!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks a lot for coming over to experience Part 2 of Barry's Bash. I am very happy to see you, dear friend!

I am impressed with Solange as both a recording artist and as the director of her own mewsic video. How about that? The Freemasons, the EDM production group that created that remix of "Sandcastle Disco," has produced many great dance remixes, and I will have an entire post devoted to them.

All of these mewsical selections are in my personal CD collection. I find up tempo remixes like these ideal for pacing my evening workouts. They get the juices flowing and get me motivated.

I'm delighted to know you enjoyed my Flash dance two-parter, and I am relieved to know that DH came through his eye procedure w/o complications and can resume a normal schedule in the near future.

Thanks again for popping in this morning, dear friend Cathy, and have a wonderful week!

    2. Tom,

Uptemp mewsic is fabulous for workouts but I prefer to listen to it while I clean house mostly. I find using my iPad while on the elliptical to stream a movie or TV show a good use of time. I tried listening to mewsic but it just doesn't do the same for me as while I'm doing chores around the house. Call me strange. It won't be the first time for someone to use it. :)

Your future segment on The Freemasons remix is sure to be an excellent post and I will keep my eye open for what I'm sure is introduction to more great mewsic. Have a good week, my friend!

    3. Hi again, Cathy!

No, dear friend, I don't consider you strange for listening to music while you clean house. I do the same. To avoid bothering others I put my headphones on and I do cleaning and dusting while listening to this same type of music. It motivates me to work or to exercise.

Thanks again for stopping by today, dear friend Cathy, and enjoy the rest of your week!

  3. Solange is a lot like her sister, Beyonce, both in looks and style. Has a lot of the same moves, too.

    1. Hi, Sherry!

Thanks so much for coming to Part 2 of the Flash rave party, dear friend. I am happy to see you!

Good point, Sherry, and a fact that I neglected to mention in the text. Solange Knowles is the kid sister of Beyoncé, but not nearly as successful or well known. Yessum, you can see the similarities in the look, style and dance moves of the two singing sibs.

Well, I am very happy to know you saw the comment I left for you on that other blog. I have the worst time leaving comments on Wordpress, even when using G+. Inevitably my comments go directly to junk - do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. :) Sue emailed me last eve and let me know she approved and pubbed my comment. It makes me happy to make you happy, Sherry. You are blessed with musical and writing talent (along with a pleasing speaking voice). I like to give credit where it is due. :)

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend Sherry, and have a super week!

  4. Several familiar names at the dance, but Mercy is new to me. She has a good sound, but what an unlikely looking group of dancers in her clip! I've reached a point in life where even the thought of moving like that brings pain!

Hope you have a good week ahead, Shady. There will be dancing at my next MI, too.

    1. Hi, Kelly!

Thanks for joining the fun again this week as Barry's Bash raves on. I appreciate your visit, dear friend!

Seems you and a couple of my other reader friends pay particular attention to the dancers that surround the main artist. I didn't even notice those people in the Mercy video. Looks like they are doing spins and splits reminiscent of 80s break-dancing. What do you think?

Your MIs are second to none, Kelly.
I always look forward to them and enjoy them. Thanks again for being here this week. Have a good one and I hope to see you back here for my Mother's Day tribute.

      Take care, dear friend Kelly!

I enjoyed Solange and wonder why she's not more popular. Duffy's dancers were really cutting some moves - and J Lo? I do like her movies ;-)

    1. Hi, diedre!

Thank you very much for swinging over for Part 2 of Barry's Bash. I'm pleased to see you, dear friend!

Seems Solange is standing (singing/dancing) in the shadow of her big sister. A break one way or the other and Solange would be the household name today, not Beyoncé.

Like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez is a successful actor as well as a singer. I enjoyed watching Beyoncé in Austin Powers Goldmember and Dreamgirls and J-Lo in Selena and Anaconda.

It was so nice of you to drop in, dear friend diedre. Thank you again for your visit and comment and have a safe and happy week!

  6. Hi Shady! That cutie Barry, looks pretty 'fab' in his Flash uniform. No wonder all of the ladies are hanging around him.

I have to agree that Duffy's dancers are good, but, I really kept my eyes on her. She barely moved during the number, but, her voice was captivating! I just can't place who she reminds me of, but she has a special voice that just takes you in! She is very deserving of any accolades she may receive!

Oh, that Dr. Wells cracks me up! What a character. He looks like someone who would add fun and suspense to the show.

Solange is really good, isn't she! Her style is her own, not a copycat of her sister, whom I also admire. I have to say though, this is the first performance of hers that I have seen, and I am quite impressed! This is a 'high-energy' lady, with cool costume changes and plenty of talent!

I like LL Cool J for his acting position on NCIS Los Angeles. I have not followed his rapping career, but he and J Lo presented a cool collaboration on their video "Control Myself".

Britney Spears, "Circus" is a fun video. She still puts on a great dance show with a fabulous singing voice.

Shady, I appreciate how you present artists and songs that we know, or may not know! When I see a video of an artist that I already like, I really appreciate the hard work that goes in to the performance, and what it takes to keep the fans begging for more.

When I see a video of an artist that I may not have previously taken an interest in, I am able to possibly get a feel for the artist as a person, which gives me the opportunity to start following this artist. And, this is where you come in Mr. Del Knight! We are given the opportunity to sample the new and old based on your introductions and videos. If we hear those tunes somewhere in the future, we can say, WOW! Shady played that one for us! You put the music in us Shady, and thank you for that! Have a great week!

    Oh...by the way..."Meta-Human"!

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

Thank you ever so much for being on hand for the part 2 conclusion of Barry's Bash. Your visit is much appreciated, dear friend, and your comment is nothing less than super-heroic! :)

Shhhhhhh! Don't be a spoiler, Suzanne. Nobody's supposed to know that Barry Allen is The Flash! :)

I would say that, to my ears, Welsh thrush Duffy sounds a little like Stevie Nicks. Do you agree?

Yessum, Dr. Wells and his doppelganger from a parallel world are very entertaining characters on The Flash. The series offers plenty of humor thanks mainly to Wells and Cisco Ramon.

You are sweet as can be for letting me know how much you enjoy these introductions of artists familiar and unfamiliar. Most of the female artists in this series were brand new to me until three years ago when I caught the dance-pop bug and started collecting various artists CDs to pace my evening workout sessions. I listen to songs like these over and over again and still haven't grown tired of them.

I'm glad you remembered the password Meta-Human. The burly bouncer at the front entrance is under strict orders not to let anyone in unless they utter it. However, you could also have gained admission to the dance if you had spoken the word "CANARY," the password from Thea's Rave in 2016, because both The Flash and The Arrow are of the same DC Comics universe:

      http://shadydell.blogspot.com/2016/09/verdant-vindication-theas-rave.html

Thank you again for being such a super-human friend and writing another extraordinary comment, Suzanne. I hope everything's AOK in Scootieville this week. I hope to see you back here this Sunday for my annual Mother's Day tribute. Till then have a wonderful week, dear friend, and God bless!

  7. Solange. What a beautiful name. You just know she has to sound beautiful, too, and she doesn't disappoint.

As to the Flash! He's hot, even if he is only about 15. Well, from my perspective he can't be more than a teen. Every decade comes up with some darned sexy and pretty people.

    1. Hi, Cheryl-Lee!

I'm glad to see you, dear friend! Thanks for returning this week to do some more dirty dancing with The Flash and his friends and foes.

Yessum, the name Solange rolls off the tongue as does Beyoncé, the artist's sister. This special Freemasons mix of "Sandcastle Disco" is one of my favorites of the genre and I was happy to add it to my personal collection along with all the other songs in this series.

Barry Allen is supposed to be age twenty-something yet, when it comes to romantic relationships, he, his girlfriend Iris and most of the other characters on the show are very immature. They act like they are in third grade. For instance it seemed to take forever for Barry and Iris to share their first kiss.

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend C-Lee, and enjoy the rest of your week!

  9. Damn Shady, this is one kickass Flash dance! I think this has to be my favorites of your dance-oriented posts.

Solange is new to me and I really like her sound. LOVE her colorfully creative video! Super fun.

Kelis is totally new to me. "Bossy" is interesting. The term "Boss Bitch" reminds me of Little Women LA's Tonya. Lol. If you're familiar with her, you know about her Boss line and her famous Boss ring.

I've always been a fan of Duffy's "Mercy". What a great song and a great line ("You've got me begging you for mercy...why don't you release me?"). This song immediately makes me want to get up and dance. Duffy's voice also reminds me of Gin Wigmore (who I'll be featuring in an upcoming Artist Spotlight 4M freebie). Love that vocal sound!

I find "Control Myself" to be the hottest song here. LL Cool J's move to team up with J-Lo was spot-on perfect for this song. It was made for the two of them! Sizzling hot! And it's not just because I really dig both of these artists. Love that they're both incredibly successful in the acting realm too. Love LL Cool J in NCIS Los Angeles. And was thrilled to see a preview commercial the other night for Jennifer Lopez's show (along with veteran actor Ray Liotta) "Shades of Blue" is coming back soon. I love that show! Those two leads are incredible together. I'm also deeply disappointed that it will not renew for a fourth season so this will be the last round of shows for this exhilarating cop show. :( Do you guys watch it?? If you don't, definitely start! Get caught up with the first two seasons before 3 starts. It's engaging at the very least.

Your final song, Britney Spears' "Circus" is fabulous. I've never been a big follower of Britney, except of course being aware of her newsy and very public career and personal blunders and slumps. She may have been at one time counted out by many but this song shows her resiliance. I don't know when she made her official comeback but this song clearly shows that she is indeed...back.

Well, you said it: the Flash Dance is going out with a bang! This was great fun this morning. I was going to go back to bed but I'm all revved up now! :)

Thanks for being so supportive while I've been going through my recent health and life issues! And thanks for coming by yesterday to check out my own "comeback" post. Just FYI, as mentioned in the post, I did put together two more "My Name in Song" playlists and I've added them to the post so when you get a chance, take a spin back around to my place and check out the latest music additions. I think you'll like them...

It's good to be back and just so you know: yours is the first blog that I've visited since taking my brief hiatus that began in March...

    Have a great week,

    1. Hi, Michele!

Welcome back, dear friend! Needless to say I am thrilled to see you after a long absence from blogging during which you needed to deal with medical issues - yours, your mother's and your dogs'. It means a great deal to me that you made SDMM your first stop on your official return to the blog circuit! :)

I am also delighted with your extremely thoughtful comment, and pleased to know that you enjoyed my latest rave dance, Barry's Bash.

I had told another reader that I think Welsh singer Duffy sounds a little like Stevie Nicks, but I think you hit closer to the mark in suggesting that her vocal quality and style are similar to that of Gin Wigmore. I remember someone introducing Gin on their blog about a year ago but, nevertheless, I am eager to listen to the songs you pick for your tribute to the sassy New Zealander.

That LL Cool J - J-Lo collaboration "Control Myself" is off the hook, isn't it? It is wild, sweaty and naughty and, as such, perfectly captures the giddy excitement of the club scene that I well remember from my bachelor years in the 80s. I have not watched NCIS LA, nor have I seen Shades of Blue. However, I like Ray (Goodfellas) Liotta's acting and I promise to check out S.O.B.

For decades I didn't give much thought to Britney Spears but, when I got interested in modern dance music a few years ago, I realized how many great dance numbers she released in her career, and I was prompted to buy volumes 1 & 2 of her B In The Mix, The Remixes. The tracks all kill!

Thanks again for being such a great friend and coming by this morning and leaving such a terrific comment, Michele. I will be over to check out your additional name song selections as soon as I click "PUBLISH." :)

      Have a wonderful week, One-L!

  10. I love to do things backwards:) so this is not my type of music but I didn’t mind Knowles who always seems to be in the shadow of her attention whore grabbing sis. The second one..I had to turn off..blecchhh. Sorry. I do like the third one and know that song and love it actually. I can’t take the one with J-lo who just is one who can’t seem to show another sexy face and I had to turn that one off. As for Britney..I also know this song and it’s catchy and the video is quite good but she is another that just has to show her whoredom...hahahaaa. I know men are not complaining;)

Well this two-parter clearly had too much female popping, jiggling and whorish behavior to suit you, dear friend. You're right. You don't hear Shady complaining. :) Seems you have a real problem with Solange's sista Beyoncé, with Kelis, J-Lo and Britney. Shady reminds you that those ladies twerk hard for the money. :)

What? Jack watches The Flash but you don't? Mrs. Shady and I don't agree on very much, but we both enjoy The Flash and other TV series based on characters in the DC and Marvel comics.

I'm glad you enjoyed meeting some new to you artists, listening to their songs and learning some new dance moves.

Yessum, I find it hard to believe that most of these songs were new to your ears. I am happy to have introduced you to the ones you didn't know.

I am familiar with the other Kelis hit "Milkshake" because, like "Bossy," I have it in my CD collection. I'm not quite sure what she means when she sings:

"My milk shake brings all the boys to the yard"

      Can you explain? :)

    1. Hi, Kirk!

Thanks for coming over as promised, good buddy! I am happy you didn't miss out on the fun in part 2 of Barry's Bash.

I'll tell you this. If it were a contest, Solange would be declared the winner, because nearly every person that commented singled her out and mentioned that they enjoyed her song and video. I agree with you, Kirk. Solange has a lot going for her. In addition to her beauty and fine singing voice she's got style and pizzazz. She directed the vid for "Sandcastle Disco" and did a great job with it. I get a kick out of her dancing on the drum heads and singing in front of a wall of Solange's Can I Sing soup. Solange is versatile. She has appeared as an actress in films and on television and has racked up quite a few hits on the U.S. Dance and R&B charts. Her 2016 single "Cranes In The Sky" won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Thanks again for coming to the rave, good buddy Kirk, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
