Barry's Bash: "Dance With The Flash!"

I'm Barry Allen

from the hit TV series

Welcome to

"Dance With The Flash"

...a rave to end all raves
(until the next one comes along).

My friends and foes are here to spin
platters and keep you dancing till you
drop, so let's get this shindig started.

Hi, I'm The Flash (no relation to Barry Allen),
the costumed speedster superhero who fights
crime in Central City and anyplace else I am
needed in the Arrowverse. Barry's Bash begins
with what is quite possibly the baddest sound
ever recorded. The song is "Touch It" by the
New York based R&B/hip hop artist Monifah.
This low-down dance hybrid samples "White
Horse," a 1983 club favorite by Laid Back,
the electronic music duo from Denmark.

"Touch It" - Monifah
(July/Aug. 1998, highest
chart pos. #9 Hot 100,
#1 Rhythmic Top 40,
#5 Australia)

I'm Dr. Caitlin Snow, a scientist
at S.T.A.R. Labs in Central City.

I'm the quintessential good girl next door
but... once in a while when I wanna chill...

I transform into Killer Frost. In a word, she's cold.
Barry Allen's manning the turntables at tonight's
bash and I can hear him crossfading into a hit by
Brandy Norwood aka Brandy. The song entitled
"Right Here (Departed)" topped the Dance Club
chart in the fall of 2008 and for your dancing
enjoyment we've got a super cool remix!

"Right Here (Departed)" (Moto Blanco Remix)
Brandy (Sept. thru Dec. 2008,
highest chart pos. #1
U.S. Dance Club Songs,
#2 Germany, from
album Human)

Hi, I'm Cisco. You can call me Pancho.
See what I did there? No? Too dated?
No boomers in the crowd? Anywaaay...
I am totally smitten by this next diva.
She's the future Mrs. Cisco Ramon,
the one and only Mariah Carey, doing
her #1 charting single "Touch My Body."

"Touch My Body" (Seamus Haji Remix Edit)
Mariah Carey (Feb. 2008,
highest chart pos. #1 Hot 100,
#1 U.S. Dance Club Songs,
#1 U.S. Pop 100/#1 UK R&B,
from Apr. 2008 album E=MC²)

AT 1:10 MARK!

I'm Captain Cold (and you're not).

If you thought my brother and I
were badass on Prison Break...

...wait till you see us unleash our powers on
The Flash. Speaking of badass, check out
Ke$ha, a sassy singer/songwriter with a
ton of 'tude.  In 2010, Ke$ha topped the
pop charts on both sides of the Atlantic
with the dance single "We R Who We R."

"We R Who We R" (Fred Falke Club Mix)
Ke$ha (Oct. 2010, highest chart pos.
#1 Hot 100/#1 Dance Club Songs,
#1 UK, Scotland & Australia,
from Nov. 2010 EP Cannibal)

AT 2:00 MARK!

I'm Detective Joe West of the Central City P.D.,
father of Iris and surrogate father to Barry Allen.
In the fall of 2006, soul legend Luther Vandross
had a top 20 Urban radio hit with "Shine," a song
that samples "My Forbidden Lover," a top 3 disco
hit for Chic in 1979. The following year the UK
dance duo Booty Luv covered "Shine" and
scored a top 10 hit in Britain.

"Shine" - Booty Luv
(May 2007, highest chart pos.
#1 UK Dance, from Sept. 2007
album Boogie 2nite)

AT 1:00 MARK!

Barry Allen back with you. The music stops
at this point because I need to run (not walk)
to the little boys' room.

Don't worry. I'll be back in a flash
with part 2 of my epic dance party

"Dance With The Flash"

Stick around!

  1. Cisco has a thing for Mariah Carey huh? Keep dreaming, dude!

    1. Hi, Alex!

Thanks for being the early bird this week, good buddy, and welcome to Barry's Bash! I told the burly bouncer to go ahead and wave you on through, even though you incorrectly used "swordfish" as the password. :)

Cisco has an eye for the ladies, that's for sure, and he tends to fall in love at first sight. If Mariah ever makes a guest appearance on The Flash, I'm sure Cisco will be dazzled and tongue-tied.

Thanks again for your visit and comment, good buddy Alex!

  2. You have a definite dance party going on here! I wonder how I'd look with jewels on my eyebrows like Ke$ha.

    1. Hi, Sherry!

Thank you for arriving bright and early to find a spot on the dance floor at Barry's Bash - a rave to end all raves (until the next one comes along).

Ain't nothin' but a house party, Sherry, and I think you'd look fantastic out on the floor with bejeweled eyebrows. In fact, I insist that you show us a selfie to that effect in your next post. :)
You must be familiar with the artist because you used the stylized spelling of her name using a dollar sign - Ke$ha. That's so cool of you!

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend Sherry, and enjoy the rest of your week!

  3. Tom,

I'm totally digging the high voltage energy of these dance tunes in this Flash post series. I have yet to watch the show but I hope to in the future. Many of today's artists and songs are introductions. The mega talented and beautiful Mariah Carey is my favorite with or without clothes. She's pretty skimpily clad turning the heat up for the nerdy guy in the video but it was a lot of fun, too. I suspect Mariah has a good sense of humor. She seems really nice. She has a fabulous voice. I've always enjoyed her mewsic. Thanks for sharing and for visiting today, my friend. Have a tunetastic week!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks a lot for coming over to experience Part 1 of my latest rave party - Barry's Bash - "Dance With The Flash." I very much appreciate you making time for a visit today, dear friend!

Yessum, most of the recordings played in this and my other raves are high voltage house/club remixes designed to keep the dance floor filled. After a misstep the previous year, Mariah Carey redeemed herself big time and proved she's a trouper by singing in a low cut gown in the bitter cold on New Year's Rockin' Eve 2017/18. In this video for her hit "Touch My Body," the scantily clad diva playfully interacts and teases a nerd played by Jack McBrayer, the actor who rose to fame as "Kenneth" on the TV series 30 Rock. Just last month Mariah Carey bravely revealed that she struggles with Bipolar II disorder.

Thank you again for coming over today, dear Cathy. I deeply appreciate you friendship and support. Have a tunetastic week yourself!

  4. Hi Shady!

A dynamic show, my friend! This must be how Moshes are formed ;-) Brandy was pretty good. The girl with the sequined eyebrows in the Falke Club (lively song!), do you suppose her eyes are really that green?
This was a really big shew, dear Shady ;-)

    1. Hi, diedre!

Thank you very much for coming by on "the morning after." I know you must be weary from the grueling A To Z Challenge. I very much appreciate you for making time for me today, dear friend!

Yessum, as Ed Sullivan would say, "Well you know we have a really big shew for you today" - no jugglers, no acrobats, no accordion or xylophone players - just some of the most exciting electronic dance music of the last 20 years right here under the big top.

Ke$ha seems to be attracting a good deal of attention and curiosity from the readers. I can't confirm the color of her eyes, but I can tell you that she hails from a Nashville suburb and now lives in LA. Ke$ha wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on her first two albums and considers herself a song scribe first and foremost. With influences that include Madonna, the Rolling Stones and glam rock bands, Ke$ha is a flamboyant artist with a trademark "white-girl" rapping style.

Thank you again for swinging by for some music and fun, dear friend diedre. Rest up now and bask in the afterglow of a very successful A To Z run!

  5. Well if this selection of videos doesn't inspire a body to want to get up and dance, I don't know what will!

Different incarnation of The Flash, I know, but I watched Justice League over the weekend. :)

    1. Hi, Kelly!

How was it? I want a review! :) With two of my favorite actress in the cast, namely Amy Adams and Diane Lane, Justice League is must see for me.

Anyway, thank you very much for coming to my latest rave dance, dear friend. I'm delighted to shoo you through the door and onto the floor. I'm glad you found the toe-tappers in Part 1 danceworthy. Stay tuned because there's another sound tsunami coming your way in part 2 next Monday with intros provided by more of the heroes and villains from The Flash.

Thank you again for your kind visit and comment, dear friend Kelly. Please give Jed a pat on the head and a Milk Bone biscuit for me and enjoy the rest of your week!

    2. As you know, you'll only get one sentence out of me.... but it was a winner! (I like Amy Adams, too)

Will do. And Jed will be pleased. :)

    3. Hi, again, dear Kelly!

It pleases me to know that you share my appreciation of actress Amy Adams. I am also happy to learn that you think J.L. is well worth seeing. Thanks for the one sentence review! :)

Can you tell that I miss my dog Toto? She needed to be put down five years ago and I still miss her. I find comfort in "adopting" the dogs of my blog friends. So whenever you feel like showing pictures of Jed or any of your other pets on your blog, you know that I will be grateful.

Thanks for the return visit, Kelly. I have a one sentence review of you: You are a superhero of a friend! :)

  6. Greetings, Shady! Don't know where you come up with your story lines, but they are surefire to keep us interested!

I have not seen The Flash, but I do recognize a couple of the characters. Caitlin Snow, aka Danielle Panabaker was a favorite of mine on the show with James Woods "Shark". I loved that show and was disappointed to see it discontinued. And, Brandy's remix of "Right Here" is very good.

KeSha really keeps you in touch with "We R Who We R". She makes me think of Blondie's cool theatrics, with her changes in stance and 'sometimes' spoken verse.

Monifah really has some great moves, doesn't she! She didn't even need her dancers to back her, although they were good too. I must say this song and video were a great intro to this Bash!

Although I don't really know any of these songs, they all were great offerings and I can say that I would get up for each one.

Booty Luv will have to reign number 1 for me from this lineup with "Shine", Shady. What a great dance song, with so much emphasis on dynamics! The ups and downs of the tempo and bursts of loudness, then quietness make this one exciting and sensational!

You did it again, and that Barry Allen kid is a cutie! LOL! I'm glad I made it by here, even though I'm a bit late! It's May Day and my son's Birthday, so we'll be sashaying out in a little bit for some Mexican food. Scootie is ready to go for some Tacos and queso!

Thanks for this fabulous post, dear friend,Shady. Have a wonderful week ahead, and keep "Bashing"!

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

Wowie, what a great comment, dear friend! Thank you very much for showing up at Barry's Bash on the very first day of the two-week dance-a-thon.

You floored me right off the bat by mentioning the James Woods' series Shark. I thought Mrs. Shady and I were the only ones who watched or even heard of the short lived legal drama. Shark was the program that introduced me to Danielle Panabaker and I was excited to start watching The Flash knowing she was in the main cast of that new series. Danielle's actress sister Kay Panabaker was in two other TV series Mrs. S and I enjoyed: CSI and No Ordinary Family. The latter starred Michael Chiklis who also starred in The Commish, The Shield and American Horror Story: Freak Show.

I'm thrilled to know that you enjoyed so many of these dance remixes, especially the UK duo Booty Luv. I was equally surprised last year when Mrs. Shady left a comment on one of my other raves declaring that she liked Booty Luv best of all the artists in that post. Monifah benefits from the heavy sampling of "White Horse," the groovy EDM single by Laid Back that I remember hearing and dancing to in clubs during my bachelor years in the early 80s.

Yessum, happy May day to you, dear friend, and happy birthday to Rusty. I hope you enjoyed the Mexican cuisine. (Tomorrow is Mrs. Shady's birthday and Cinco de Mayo is our granddaughter's birthday.)

Thank you again for the visit and tremendous comment, Suzanne. I truly appreciate it when you stop by. Stay tuned for part 2 of the dance party with a whole new set of heroes and villains from The Flash beginning next Monday (when DJ Barry Allen returns from his potty break.) Take care and enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Suzanne!

  7. Hi Shady (and the cast of characters)!

All you want to do is make me bounce? I’ve been bouncing all morning! I haven’t heard that” Touch it” song in a very long time. Great dance tune! You also tuned me into a new (to me) Brandy song. I’m familiar with most of her hits. Love me anything “Mariah”! She’s one of my favorite “Divas”! I’m very familiar with Kesha! She had many hits a couple years ago, in fact, my son was invited and went to her CD release party. She really shot to stardom with her huge mega hit out now called, “Praying”!

I’ll be anxious to see what you come up with on the part 2 dance party post!

    Have a wonderful week!
    Toni Deroche

    1. Hi, Toni!

Thanks a lot for joining the fun, dear friend! You seem to know this style of music better than anybody and I greatly appreciate your input.

I must confess that all of these songs were new to me until three years ago when I started collecting various artists CDs in the dance-pop genre. By that time some of these recordings were already considered old school, but their sound has been freshened up and made even more danceworthy thanks to talented remix producers.

I'm pleased to know that you enjoyed these sounds by some of the hottest divas in the record business. The other night Mrs. Shady and I watched a 1995 episode of Ellen in which Mariah Carey was referenced, reminding us that Mariah was already a household name 23 years ago! It's exciting to learn that your son went to Ke$ha's CD release party. He has an exciting life, meets many celebs and is considered one himself.

Thank you again for attending part 1 of Barry's Bash. Stick around because Barry and his friends and foes will be back next week with more cool dance tuneage. I hope you can join us again because your comments are always appreciated. Have a great Thursday and a wonderful weekend, dear friend Toni!

  8. Hi Shady!

Amazing, just absolutely amazing. I love the song selection and the background stories. Though, Cisco has a thing for Mariah? Mayhaps...

Have a great Thursday, dear friend.

    1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Thanks a bunch for coming to the rave, dear friend!

I figured you might like some of these danceworthy selections along with the superhero and super villain presenters. Cisco is an incurable romantic, easily smitten by a pretty face, and I am sure he would fall hard for Mariah. :)

Thanks again for dropping in, dear friend JM. Stay tuned for Part 2 of Barry's Bash coming up next Monday!

  9. Wow, late to this dance fest...but it's been crazy at the Pines and I really had to flash through these cool tunes. We had a pipe break yesterday that flooded the basement..the family room,, completely carpeted basement and I'm dealing with a plumber and carpet water suckers so I'll hopefully get it all done in a flash...anyway, have a good weekend and I'll check back in next post if I haven't floated away.

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Oh NO, dear friend! What a calamity at The Pines! I'm sorry to learn of the water pipe break and the flooding of your basement. I'm sure the cast of The Flash would agree that it was super heroic of you to make time for a visit to SDMM in the midst of all that chaos. Thank you, dear friend! I hope you get everything back to normal soon and hope to see you back here next week. Thanks again and please take care of yourself. Have a good weekend if you can, dear YaYa!

  10. Just finished working 13 in a row and am ready to fall into bed, friend Shady ... but wouldn't wanna miss your dance party for the world ... so let's dance, eh? ... smiles ... Love, cat ... PS: I liked Mariah best. PPS: Spring is finally happening here ... smiles.

    1. Hi, cat!

Thank you very much for swinging over to Barry's Bash part 1, dear friend! It means a lot to me that you came to the dance party even though you are tired after working 13 shifts in a row. It brings to mind the film They Shoot Horses Don't They. :)

I am delighted to know you enjoyed Mariah's song most of all. I never get tired of watching that official music video in which she playfully teases Kenny from 30 Rock.

I'm pleased to know that the ice and snow are finally melting in your vicinity and that you are enjoying spring.

Thank you again, ever so much, for joining the fun, dear friend cat, and have a wonderful weekend! :)

  11. Though I prefer Mariah for her full-throated ballads (which I acknowledge might be out of place in a rave of all raves) I found the video, which I don't think I've seen before, quite amusing. That stereotypical nerd looks like he might actually have a chance with her. Maybe if he'd gotten her tea on New Year's Eve...

    1. Hi, Kirk!

Thanks for popping over to the platter party, good buddy. I'm happy to see you!

Ha - good one! The producers of New Year's Rockin' Eve missed their chance to stage a funny sight gag. They should have had Kenneth from 30 Rock run to the rescue when Mariah asked for her tea. :)

Most of these dance club remixes speed up the original studio recordings, making the artist's vocals higher pitched than they actually are. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Mariah's beauty and the nerd video for the first time.

Thanks again for dropping by, good buddy Kirk. Part 2 of Barry's Bash is coming up in a Flash this Monday and I hope to see you here. Until then enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  12. So here I amdo7 g the backward flip...only in my mind:) I just find most of these songs have a similar beat and can be...a little annoying...hahahaaa sorry that I am not one for this music or their T & A thrust into the camera like meat. Oh god...maybe I am the ice lady for today. I do like Ke$ha and find her voice different but this one song is not my favourite of hers because it is too repetitive. I find Mariah is over-rated and I know I am in the minority. Brandy is good and had a strong voice and not as suggestive. Gosh you would think I am a prude but I really am not.

    1. Hi, Birgit!

Thank you for returning to the scene of the Grime, Shady Dell Music & Memories! :) I am getting used to your style of "binge commenting," dear friend, and that is why I clicked back here to Part 1 to begin my replies.

Yessum, you surprised me a little with your comments here because I didn't think you normally react so negatively to booty twerking and such. I admit that recordings in this genre tend to sound repetitive (as well as derivative in many cases) but that's what club and house remixes are intended to be - a continuous up tempo mix with deep beats to keep the dancers out on the floor.

I'm glad you found a song or two to your liking and I do appreciate you making time for a visit, dear friend BB.

Now I will proceed to the current post. :)

You talkin' to me?
