Lucy in Disguise With Guy Friends!

Picture yourself in a globe by a river
Surrounded by trees and clear deep blue skies

Somebody calls you, her costume quite showy
A girl with a lie in her eyes

Synthetic soldiers not yellow but green
Trying to keep her undead

Look for the girl with a lie in her eyes
And she's gone (to another century)

Lucy in disguise with guy friends
(everybody sing!)

Lucy in disguise with guy friends

Lucy in disguise with guy friends, ah, ah...

Hi, I'm Lucy Preston, a history professor
and reluctant time traveler on the hit
NBC television series Timeless.

Each week I and my cohorts...
scientist-slash-tech geek Rufus Carlin and
U.S. Army Delta Force operative Wyatt Logan,
hop in our time machine (aka "the lifeboat")
and go chasing after this man...

...Garcia Flynn, a psycho who stole a time machine
and has the nasty habit of going back in time
hell bent on changing the course
of American history.

As you can see from the remarkably
well preserved photo above, taken in
1865, Flynn does things that aren't
very nice. Our job is to stop him.

I'm Flynn. Don't listen to Lucy.
She doesn't have the big picture.

I'm perfectly sane and I know what I am
doing. By the way, you might remember
me as Dr. Luka Kovač on ER in the late
90s and 2000s. As you can plainly see
I haven't changed a bit over the years.
Can Clooney say the same?

The three of us were strangers until
a few months ago when we were
recruited by the government and
coerced into the time machine.

It took a while for our little Mod Squad to gel.

As you can see in the picture above...
we needed to learn the ropes.

Yep, we make new friends
wherever and whenever we go.

Follow our Timeless adventures

Monday nights on NBC

or binge-watch us on Hulu!

  1. Hi, Shady!

This looks like an interesting show and would be up my alley. I'll have to watch.

Have a great Thursday, dear friend!

    1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Thanks for popping in as the early bird today, dear friend!

Yessum, Timeless is a fun series and I highly recommend it. You the viewer have a ringside seat as pivotal events in U.S. historic unfold. The period costumes are authentic and the sets are big budget, lavish and movielike. Lucy and her guy friends get into one predicament after another as they try to thwart the plans of Flynn and leave history intact. You'll love it!

Thanks again for your early morning visit, dear friend JM!

    2. Hi, Shady.

I hope you had a great weekend! It was an emotional one here.

I will have to take note of this show. I really want to see this.

Have a great Sunday, dear friend!

    3. Hi again, Jessica Marie!

Yessum, I had a nice weekend, thank you. I was traveling but now I'm back home.

I see that you attended a live R&B show in Philly. How exciting!

Thanks again for checking in and have a super week ahead, dear friend JM!

  2. Oh my gosh-- I'm so happy to see you paying tribute to Timeless, a show that we have been watching together on Hulu practically every night for the last couple of weeks. I love your clever word play-- changing the lyrics of Lucy in the Sky to fit Timeless. At first I didn't know if I was going to like the series-- but it has really grown on me. The chemistry among the three main characters-- Lucy, Rufus and Wyatt-- is getting stronger with every episode. I agree that Dr. Luka from ER still looks the same-- hasn't aged a day in all these years-- it's remarkable.

You did a great job on this promotional parody!

    1. Hi, Kathryn!

Thanks for commenting on my Timeless post! It is another TV series that has captured my imagination and inspired me enough to create a post about it. I'm glad you appreciated my word play using the famous Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky (With Diamonds)" to introduce Timeless to people who don't know about it and aren't watching it yet.

I love the chemistry in Timeless. Lucy, Rufus and Wyatt have become a tight knit unit. They like/love each other, have each other's backs and save each other from the treacherous Flynn and assorted other enemy combatants they encounter in their time travels. I also love how they are mixing a little more humor in with the drama in later episodes. Humor always works for me and the producers have a winning recipe here, in my opinion.

I am amazed that Goran Višnjić, the actor from ER who now plays Flynn on this series, still looks the same. He seems to be, as Rod Stewart sang, "ageless... timeless."

I'm glad you enjoyed my semi-spoof of Timeless, one of our favorite new TV shows, and I am very happy that you decided to give it a chance and watch it with me.

      Have a great day, Kathryn!

  3. Tom,

The TV ad promos for this series sparked an interest but I haven't watched any of the show yet. Isn't this the first year? I will have to see if all the episodes are still available on NBC and if so then we can use Roku to stream them to the TV using the NBC app. Thanks for peaking my curiosity more about the show. It looks like a winner!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for coming over, dear friend!

Yessum, Timeless is in its first season on NBC and I am hoping there will be many more. It's a lot of fun to watch week by week as the trio jumps back and forth thru time trying to prevent Flynn from tampering with American history. Abigail Spencer is wonderful as Lucy and the whole cast is excellent.

It is my pleasure to arouse your kitty cat curiosity about this great new TV series. :)

Thanks again for joining the fun today, dear friend Cathy, and enjoy the rest of your week!

    2. Tom,

We started watching the third season of "From Dusk to Dawn" over the weekend. It has a different feel. Maybe, it's where they've changed it so much but I'm eager to see more of it. We watched episode one. Another series we began (didn't watch all the pilot) is the Fox series "Lethal Weapon" and what we saw of it, we liked. Mel Gibson's character "Riggs" played by Clayne Crawford isn't quite as insane but he does a good job. :) Have a good week, my friend and thanks for stopping in this weekend to visit!

    3. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for the return visit, dear friend, and thanks for tipping me off that the third season of FD2D is now available. There are so many great series to watch that I tend to forget about some of them. I look forward to watching my favorite vampire story. I was a little sad to see Kate go over to the dark side at the end of the last season but eager to see what happens next.

Thanks also for letting me know about Lethal Weapon. I'll take a look.

Have a great week, dear friend Cathy!

  4. Really clever with the lyrics! I haven't watched the show yet. Might wait until the season is complete and then binge watch it. Too many shows to keep up with these days.

    1. Hi, Alex!

Thanks for coming over, good buddy!

You said it! There are so many great series to watch these days that it is impossible to keep up. I think you'll find Timeless worth following. I wasn't thrilled with the pilot but around episode 5 the show started to come together and I really got into it. It just keeps getting better and better. The "Space Race" episode, one of my faves so far, pays homage to Katherine Johnson and ties in with the hit movie Hidden Figures. Abigail Spencer is developing an enthusiastic fan base.

Thanks again for dropping by, good buddy Alex!

  5. You're so creative!! I have seen the show a few times. I like it but i think there's something else on at the same time that i also watch. I enjoy all their adventures. I need to catch up and watch the last few episodes. The show is so good with the costumes and sets to whatever era they're playing with.
    Have a great day Shady

    1. Hi, Holli!

How are you, dear friend? Thank you very much for coming by to read my preview/review of Timeless, a TV series that Mrs. Shady and I are enjoying a lot. Last fall we held off because there were so many other shows that we were watching, but a couple of weeks ago we started watching Timeless on Hulu and have been running episodes nearly every night since. We are almost caught up. The "Watergate Tape" episode was terrific and the "Space Race" episode ties in with the new hit movie Hidden Figures. Those are my two favorite episodes so far, probably because the events took place during my lifetime.

Yessum, the series seems to spare no expense to deliver authentic costumes and sets. I appreciate that!

Thank you very much for your visit and kind words, dear friend Holli. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  6. hmm, sounds interesting! I've never checked Timeless out but I think I'll give it a view through Hulu.
I like the idea of time travel...especially going backwards

    Thanks for the review!

    Michele at Angels Bark

    1. Hi, Michele!

Thanks for swinging over, dear friend!

Mrs. S and I highly recommend this new NBC series Timeless. If you have Hulu then I hope you'll give it a try. I guarantee the show will grow on you as the characters solidify and the chemistry grows. It's loaded with atmosphere, period costumes, action and adventure.

Thanks again for coming, dear friend Michele. Have a great Friday and weekend!

  7. I have to see this show and tape it. My hubby is not into these shows at all so it makes it hard for me to sit and watch it but I liked the Time Tunnel(let's go way back) so this sounds good. I love the way you did the lyrics too.

    1. Hi, Birgit!

Thank you very much for coming down to see my post on Timeless, a really cool new sci-fi adventure series on NBC. Yessum, even if you have to sneak around behind your hubby's back, tape the show and watch it at 3 am when he is asleep, I urge you to do so. :) The episodes are well done and Abigail Spencer is making a name for herself as a result of the buzz about the series.

Thank you for the compliment about the way I butchered the words to "Lucy in the Sky" to make them fit Timeless. :)

Thanks again and have a great Friday and weekend, dear friend BB!

  8. I have seen the previews of this show, and have almost watched it, but usually opt for something else. It looks pretty good, and I always like time travel stories. It comes on our TV on Monday nights (NBC) at 9:00pm. All of the cast are very attractive people, and, yes, Dr. Luka still looks good as ever! I enjoyed him on ER, too!

The illustrations just about sold me. I may have to give it a look see! And, your theme song was so cleverly written, Shady! I did sing along, and all rhymed perfectly!

This is a great post, Shady. I don't have Hulu, but I do have the setup for it with Netflix. It's good to see you, have a wonderful weekend. Friday is coming quickly!

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

Thank you very much for popping in to experience my impression of Timeless, a TV series that Mrs. Shady and I got ourselves hooked on in recent weeks. Yessum, the show boasts an attractive cast and they play off of each other nicely. Yessum, time seems to have stood still for ER's Dr. Luka. He doesn't look any different than he did in 1999!

I'm pleased to know you sang my new song "Lucy in Disguise." :)

I hope you do find a way to catch Timeless, Suzanne. It earns the Shady Del Knight zeal of approval. :) Thank you very much for coming, dear friend. Enjoy the rest of your day, have a great Friday and a safe and happy weekend!

  9. Hi Shady!
Such a clever post, Timeless does sound intriguing, and your zeal of approval is much more effective than the commercial ads I've seen thus far.
Would you believe I actually recognized Dr. Luka from ER?
Am I to understand that now that I've watched (on your advice, of course) an entire season of a show on Netflix, you have now abandoned it for Hulu? Ack! I just can't keep up with you, my friend ;-)But I thank you for yet another highly entertaining advisory!
Have a laughter-filled weekend, dear Shady.

    1. Hi, diedre!

Thank you very much for coming by, dear friend! I'm just now getting off the road and back into my office from a brief trip and happy to find your excellent comment.

Yessum, Timeless earns Shady's "zeal" of approval, with a "z" which indicates greater enthusiasm than a mere seal of approval. :) I urge you to watch the series "time permitting." :)

I'm pleased to know that you recognized Croatian American actor Goran V and remembered him as Luka on ER, Mrs. Shady's all time favorite TV series.

I curious. Which show that I recommended in a post did you watch on Netflix? I ran posts about several series in recent months including From Dusk Till Dawn, Stranger Things, Arrow and Sense 8. I would love to know which one you watched and how you liked it. Mrs. S and I still watch many shows on Netflix including Arrow, The Flash, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Prison Break, Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. On Hulu we watch Timeless, Rizzoli & Isles, The Good Wife, CSI, Aquarius, Murder in the First, Freakish and several others.

Thank you again for your cheery visit and comment, dear friend diedre. I wish you a safe and happy weekend as well and I'll see you soon!

    2. Hi again, dear Shady!

I do recall your posts featuring interesting shows on Netflix, but as I did not yet have access, I focused more on that.

Access to Netflix was magically provided by our son in-law recently, but alas, I've not yet been granted "Keeper of the Remote" ;-) At the risk of raising eyebrows or garnering a few eye rolls, I confess to having watched in only three Sunday mornings an entire season of "The Ranch". You may recall how much time I've spent on one ;-) Then again, my delight with the show may have had something to do with Sam Elliot (be still my heart!) I must say, the Netflix experience is certainly a new one, I can't decide whether it's like watching a reality show or a soap opera. Either way, I can't wait to watch another show and hope the coin flips toward a few you've mentioned next time;-)
      Until again, my friend!

    3. Hi again, dear diedre!

I'm sorry I misread your comment. I now understand that you were giving Netflix itself a try for the first time and not referring to a specific series that I had mentioned. The Ranch is a new one to me and I'm glad you told me about it. It seems like a surreal casting combination: Ashton KUtcher and Danny Masterson from That 70's Show, Debra Winger of Officer and a Gentleman fame and rugged Western hero Sam "heart be still" Elliott thrown together in a TV series set at a ranch in Colorado. Mrs. Shady turns into a blushing schoolgirl every time we watch the film Gettysburg and Sam Elliott appears in the role Brigadier General John Buford. "What am I... chopped liver?" I always ask her when Elliott rides across the screen on his horse and she swoons. :)

Thank you again for the fun chit-chat, dear friend diedre. I wish you and your family a wonderful weekend!

  10. I have never heard of Timeless, sounds and looks interesting though

    1. Hi, Jo-Anne!

How are you, my dear Aussie friend? Thanks for taking a look at my promotional piece for Timeless, a new TV series that Mrs. Shady and I are currently binge-watching on Hulu. If Timeless is available in your part of the world I urge you to give it a whirl. You can learn some interesting facts about American history while being entertained by an attractive and talented cast.

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend Jo-Anne!

  11. I've never seen this show but I love the idea of time travel. I'd be too tempted to tell people the mistakes they've made and try and change things. I guess that would make me like the bad dude in this series(trying to change things!) I might be tempted to buy a sure winning lottery ticket. On the other hand, I might be tempted to go visit a place called the Shady Dell!

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Thank you for coming over again today and taking a look at my teaser for Timeless, a television series that takes you to other places, other decades and other centuries to witness pivotal moments in history such as the Hindenburg disaster, the assassination of Abe Lincoln, the Alamo, Watergate and the 1969 lunar landing. Follow the adventures of this modern day Mod Squad-slash-A-Team consisting of Lucy, Rufus and Wyatt as they travel back in time trying to preserve history as we know it and Flynn rides in another time machine and tries to tinker and tamper with history at those pivotal moments insisting it is the right thing to do. It's fascinating and the costumes and sets are authentic - more like a movie than a TV show. I hope you give Timeless a try someday.

Thank you again for joining the fun, dear friend YaYa. I wish you and Jack and Chubbs a safe and happy weekend!

  12. Oh, that's an interesting plot. I should see this.

    1. Hi, Lux!

Thanks for coming, my friend around the world!

Yessum, if Timeless is available in the Philippines then I urge you to watch it. It is exciting and educational and the main characters are likable.

Thanks again, Lux, and have a great week!

  13. I love anything that has the possibility for time travel. I'd love to play her part just so I could wear all those lovely period dresses!

    1. Hi Cheryl!

Thanks for coming by, dear friend!

Yessum, Lucy has a huge wardrobe of period costumes to choose from ranging from centuries ago through the 20th century, and she dons a different one every week as do her gentlemen cohorts. If you aren't watching Timeless I highly recommend the series to you.

Thanks again for your visit and comment, dear friend C-Lee!

  14. Lucy in Disguise. Sounds like a Beetles song in disguise. ;)

This sounds like an interesting series. Thanks for telling us about it.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. Hi, Sherry!

How are you, dear Georgia friend? Thanks for coming up - down - over!

Yessum, "Lucy in Disguise" is a thinly disguised knock-off of "Lucy in the Sky" by an English act that we, the older generation, remember - The Beatles. :)

Yessum, Timeless is an interesting series with great cast chemistry, authentic costumes and sets, and healthy doses of mystery and suspense. As the series progresses week by week you will meet some of the most famous people in history. I highly recommend Timeless.

Thanks again for your visit and comment, dear friend Sherry!

You talkin' to me?
