    1. Thank you very much for taking a look at my April Fool's Day post, shortybear. Your compliment is awesome!

  2. Kathryn AndersonApril 1, 2016 at 4:15 AM

I think all Kiss-- all the time-- is a great idea, Shady! lol I remember most of these shows and characters. I forgot that "Honey" was a lawyer. I don't remember Girl's Club at all. I remember Monica Potter and Julie Bowen on Boston Legal and I remember Conviction, Shark, The Deep End and Good Guys. The Good Wife and Arrow are two shows that you and I are still following and enjoying. I never knew you have a collection of whimsical toilet seats. Where are you hiding them? lol

This is a clever April Fool post--Shady!

    1. Hi, Kathryn!

Thanks for taking a gander at the swans of small screen lawyer shows. Yessum, the oldest TV series in this group, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show, featured one of my favorite actresses, Barbara Alyn Woods, in the roll of Diane Szalinski, working mom and lady lawyer. In case you didn't know, Barbara's three daughters are all successful actresses. Her daughter Natalie played Adam's girlfriend on The Goldbergs. Emily had a recurring role on the ABC series Revenge. Alyvia plays Faith Newman on The Young and the Restless and recently portrayed young Dolly Parton in the TV movie Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors.

The 2002 series Girls Club was one of the least successful TV shows created by David E. Kelley. It lasted only 13 episodes. I enjoyed watching Conviction, Shark, The Deep End and The Good Guys with you and wish all of those series had higher ratings and longer life spans. I am sad to see the excellent, long running legal drama The Good Wife come to an end and happy that we still have many more episodes of Arrow to watch together.

Thank you again for checking out my April Fool's post, dear Kathryn!

  3. What a great April Fool's post Shady! Although Kiss, all day, everyday, wouldn't be a bad idea... :)
Trial by Fire: great song. I just played it twice, loud in my earphones! Really fun post with all the legal ladies...

I didn't realize Monica Potter and Julie Bowen starred in Boston Legal! I didn't watch that show very often.

Now, the Good Wife: I'm there every Sunday. I'm heartbroken that this is going to be the final season of the series. It's such great writing and acting! Superb show.

What about these toilet seats?? I wanna see!!! :)

Happy April Shady. Hope it's a great month for you...

    Michele at Angels Bark

    1. Hi, dear Michele!

Thank you very much for dropping by to experience my answer to March Madness - my annual April Fool's post. I'm excited to know that you like this Kiss song, "Trial By Fire." It's one of my favorites and the words are inspiring. I'm also pleased to know that you enjoyed my list of the who's who of legal ladies of television. Julie Bowen has been playing Claire Dunphy for so many years that some people forget her string of movies and her role on Boston Legal. Mrs. Shady and I are also sad to see The Good Wife come to an end. We agree with you. From a writing and acting standpoint, it is arguably the greatest legal drama in TV history.

Happy April to you as well, dear friend Michele, and thank you very much for visiting me during this hectic BOTB/A To Z day!

    2. Hey Shady, Happy Sunday, what's left of it. Were you bummed that the Good Wife wasn't on tonight? That's okay, I watched The Walking Dead instead. :) do you watch that show??

Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was hectic and I finally slowed down about 7 tonight and am kicked back watching some good TV.

BTW, I'm still singing that Kiss song in my head!!
Have a good week, my friend...

    3. Hi, One L Michele! :)

Aren't you sweet for paying me a Sunday night visit? What a wonderful friend you are! I hope your mom and dad are doing fine these days.

Mrs. Shady and I don't watch any TV in real time. We are winding our way through every season of The Good Wife and are only on season 5 or 6 at the present time. I have tried to interest Mrs. S in The Walking Dead but she doesn't like shows or movies with zombies. I might have to watch it by my lonesome!

That Kiss song is a catchy one and has inspirational and empowering lyrics to boot. I'm glad you have it stuck in your noggin. :)

I'll see you tamale, dear friend Michele, as we begin the first full week of A to Z. Thanks again for visiting me tonight!

  4. Now that's funny! Listening to KISS brought back memories of my Friday in the OR with Dr. B who would blast that music all day..He left our institution to go to not a crazy house, another hospital, to work. I miss him but his hard rock, blasting sound...not so much! Anyway, I recognized many of the gals in other shows besides the ones you mentioned. I was looking for a few from my fav "LAW and ORDER", but that's OK Shady, I had a good laugh today! Enjoy this fun day and all week too!

    1. Hi, dear YaYa!

Thank you very much for dropping by! You have been following me long enough to know that I always have something Shady up my sleeve on April first. :)

How cool it is that one of your doctors played Kiss music in the OR. Did they call him "Doctor Love" :) You're right, I neglected the various L & O ladies in this post. I suppose it's because these particular women had more of an impact on me and the song wasn't long enough to include everybody. (I had to get those Y & R ladies in there. :)

I'm delighted to know my post gave you a smile and a chuckle, dear friend YaYa. Have a great day and month!

  5. Good way to start the morning!

    1. Hi, Mike!

I'm happy to start your day off by playing Kiss and tell! :)

      Thanks for coming, good buddy!

  6. You are such a joker! Thanks for the entertaining April Fools post. The backwards-written sign made me chuckle. You need to work on that "behave" part. ;-) Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hi, dear Sherry!

Thank you very much for popping over for my annual April Fool's Day post, dear friend! I am always happy to entertain you and leave you smiling. I will need to work on that "behave" thing. :)

Thanks again for coming. I'm glad you enjoyed the post and I wish you and your delightful family a wonderful weekend as well, dear Sherry!

  7. This was perfect, Shady! In the A-Z Mania, I forgot about April Fools Day! Can you believe it? Don't answer that. Grin.

    1. Ha! That never even occurred to me either, Sandra! I wonder if any of the other A to Z-ers will use April Fool as their topic of the day. I'm glad you had some fun here and I thank you for making time for me today, dear friend Sandra!

  8. You're a Boston Legal fan for sure.
Bummer, I was looking forward to the whimsical toilet seats. You and Al Penswasser could have done a series together.

    1. Hi, Alex!

Thanks for coming by to experience my kick-off to April Madness. I take it you were a fan of Boston Legal, too? How about The Practice?

Thanks again for joining the fun, good buddy Alex!

  9. Very clever, my friend! The band did a terrific job marketing themselves and may even have pioneered the concept of theatrical band performances. It took a good many years but they finally did make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame :-)
Much as I enjoy 'legal beagle' shows, the only one I'm familiar with is The Good Wife. I had to look twice at Vail Bloom - she reminded me of Jennifer Aniston!
Let's see, A as in attorney, might your next post be B as in bowls? Just kidding ;-) Thanks for such an entertaining post, Shady! Happy April!

    1. Hi, dear Diedre!

Thank you very much for coming by for my annual April Fool's post. Yessum, Kiss's marketing of merch and memorabilia and the repeated repackaging and re-releasing of their song catalog have been an integral part of the band's success. Gene Simmons and company have been milking their fame for all it's worth for decades. I think everybody agrees on The Good Wife. Mrs. Shady and I are working our way through the series on Hulu and every episode is a gem of the genre.

Happy April to you, dear friend Diedre, and thank you again for coming over. Have a great weekend!

  10. Hahaha! Love it, Shady. ☺ Happy April Fool's Day to you. You look good in green. Kiss had some good tunes, for sure and I get a kick out of Gene Simmons. Used to watch his reality show. As for the lady lawyers, the only one I know is Alicia Florrick. I was sad to learn "The Good Wife" has been cancelled, but it was never quite the same after Will got killed off. Thanks for the smiles and giggles. Have a good weekend!

    1. Hi, Debbie the Doglady!

Thank you very much for dropping in and joining the fun on April Fool's Day. I used to watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels, too. I love it when Gene shows up in TV dramas in the role of a villain. Looks like we all agree on the quality of The Good Wife. The series had a long, successful run and will go out on top, not overstaying its welcome by any means. I was shocked when Will got gunned down by his client in the courtroom and have missed the chemistry between him and Alicia ever since.

I'm glad I left you smiling and giggling today, Debbie. (I hope you got my email stating that I was unable to publish my comment on your BOTB post this morning.) Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend!

    2. No worries, Shady. Found you comment (both copies) in, of all things, the Spam folder. This is a weird Wordpress glitch that happens occasionally and I don't know what triggers it. Anyway, rest assured that I check there regularly and fished it out. I'll be back on site later to reply. Just checked emails and found your message too.

    3. P.S. If you're interested in riveting female lawyer drama, check out "Damages", starring Glenn Close. It should be on Netflix.

    4. Hi, Debbie!

Yessum, I just checked back a while ago and noticed that my comment got published. I was freaking out because I didn't want you to think I skipped your post. I also had difficulty commenting on Michele's blog today. Please be advised that tomorrow is a travel day for me and I will be very late getting to your next post. The same thing is going to happen one week from now so hang in there and bear with me. :)

    5. Yessum, somebody else recently recommended Damages and I told Mrs. Shady about it and added it to our watch list. We both like Glenn Close and lawyer shows and I'm sure we will enjoy it. We also loved the Greg Kinnear lawyer show Rake which was canceled before it had a chance to gain an audience.

      Thanks again, dear friend Debbie!

    6. No worries about the late replies, Shady. Sunday is a day of rest for the A to Z challenge and gives us a chance to catch up. I liked Rake too and was sorry they cancelled it so fast. The original, Australian version is much better and lasted five years. We watched that on Netflix as well. Should still be on there. Happy travels!

    7. Thanks for the tip about the Aussie version of Rake. I didn't know. I will look it up and bookmark. You should watch the U.S. and Australian versions of The Slap if you haven't already done so. Both versions are excellent!

      Thanks, Debbie!

  11. Tom, A new direction for your blog...REALLY?! Kiss and make-up that's a good approach. Trial By Fire is an excellent tie with featuring female TV show characters who play lawyers. I loved The Good Guys and cannot figure out why there was only one season. It was one of the best written & produced programs running at that time. Jenny Wade is a beautiful girl with loads of sex appeal with her soft voice and short dresses. lol Great, fun post! Thanks for visiting today.

    Curious as a Cathy
All Things Vintage: Artists #AprilA2Z #BoTB

    1. Hi, dear Cathy!

Welcome to my April Fool's Day post, dear friend! I'm happy to know you appreciated how I tied in the song with my picture gallery of lady lawyers. I'm willing to bet that you are one of the few readers who watched The Good Guys. Mrs. Shady and I loved that series, never missed an episode and were disappointed that it didn't catch on with enough other viewers for renewal. We have been fans of Bradley Whitford ever since his role as Josh on The West Wing, and Tom Hanks' son is an excellent actor who was also great in season 1 of Fargo. Jenny Wade certainly was a stunner on Good Guys.

I'm glad you had fun here today, dear friend Cathy. Enjoy your weekend!

  12. You always find new and whimsical ways to keep the masses entertained.
Great blog post. I like KISS too, so I'm looking forward to this year long reflection, in addition to your awesome toilet seat collection.
It's ironic because I collect whimsical toilet floor mats. Sometimes I take them to toilet mat conventions and trade for the really rare ones.

    Have a great April 1st!!!

    1. Hi, Jeffrey!

Welcome back to SDMM, good buddy, just in time for April Fool's Day! I never would have taken you for a Kiss fan, but I am delighted to find that out. If you specialize in whimsical toilet floor mats and I'm into whimsical toilet seats, then I think we should go into business together and operate our own Etsy shop. Are you in? :) All we need now is a whimsical toilet tissue guy and we'll have all bases covered.

Thanks again for stopping by, good buddy Jeffrey, and have a fine weekend!

  13. I scrolled along just perfectly to the lyrics, Shady! Good job showing your favorite band with your favorite girlies! My fav out of yours is Julie Bowen--Love her personality, cute and spunky!
I loved Kiss, had their "alive" album in 1975--wore it out!
    Happy April Fools day!!!!

    1. Hi, dear Toni!

How are you, dear friend? You have been following SDMM since 2008 and have played several of my "poor man's videos" over the years. It pleases me to know that you took time to follow instructions and looked at the sequence of pictures in sync with the song lyrics.

Yessum, Julie Bowen had a successful acting career even before her smash hit show Modern Family and I enjoyed her role on Boston Legal. I am also glad to know you are a member of the Kiss army, same as Shady.

Thank you very much for joining the April Fool's party, dear friend Toni. I wish you and your family a safe and happy weekend!

  14. Yep, I knew as soon as I read KISS everyday that this was a joke! A funny one though and very clever with all the legal lady lawyers. I used to watch Ally McBeal way back and they were lawyers but not too many after that.
Great post and KISS is always a good idea because they're entertaining for sure. Which BTW, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley own a chain restaurant called Rock and Brews and they were recently in Dallas promoting the opening of their place here (in The Colony). Very cool!

    1. Hi, dear Holli!

Thank you for coming by to see what I put together this year for April Fool's Day. You're right! I neglected to include lawyers from Ally McBeal. I think I would have picked Portia Derossi as Nelle and Courtney Thorne-Smith as Georgia Thomas.

I learned something new from your comment, dear Holli! I didn't know the Kiss principals have a restaurant chain but it certainly makes sense for them to jump on that bandwagon. Thanks for adding that tasty tidbit to your comment. Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Holli!

  15. One of my good friends from high school is basically Gene Simmons, haha. To say he's obsessed with KISS would be an understatement if ever there was one. Once I even watched the KISS movie with him, haha.

    Happy April Fool's Day!

    1. Hi, dear Ashton!

I have been a Kiss fanatic since 1974. At one point I considered going to a professional make-up artist, having my face painted as all four of the characters - Starchild, Demon, Spaceman and Catman - and having studio portraits made of each one. I still might do it! :) I loved Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park - winner of 50 Academy Awards including Best Picture. :)

Thank you very much for your visit and comment, dear friend Ashton!

  16. You COULD almost do all your posts like this... without the toilet seats, capish?

No Granny? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Give her a swig or two of Rheumatiz medicine and she'd have fit right in.

Ironically, my "pick to clicks" on your lovely ladies were the two Y&R ladies. Can't go wrong- with them or KISS!

I'm almost inspired to try something like that...

    1. Hi, Chris!

Welcome to my April Fool's bash, good buddy! Yessir, this post amounted to a beauty contest with some of my favorite legal ladies as the nominees. I know you watch Y & R and I figured you'd remember Paul Williams' daughter Heather (Vail Bloom) and the fetching Avery (Jessica Collins) who regrettably left the show last year. I realize that Granny Clampett could lay down the law at times, especially when Jethro got out of line, but I simply didn't have room in the post for everybody. That includes Granny and it also includes Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham. I'm glad you found the post amusing and "educational," good buddy Chris. Scrappy April to you and have a safe and Scrappy weekend!

  17. Figured this had to be a prank. Kiss 24/7/365... LOL. Thanks for the laugh, dear friend!

    1. Hi, dear Jessica Marie! Yessum, its my annual April Fool's Day gag, but this post was actually inspired by a radio station that adopted an "all Kiss - all the time" format back in the 80s. They played Kiss 24 hours every day and I loved it!

Thanks again for coming, dear friend JM, and have a great weekend!

  18. As soon as you wrote forget about the Shady Glenn I knew it was all about April Fool's. KISS is good though and I have to laugh at the young gals who are all hot lawyers

    1. Hi, dear Birgit!

Thank you for joining the April Fool fun here on SDMM! "Trial By Fire" is a song from Asylum, the 13th Kiss studio album. The album was released in the fall of 1985 and three super cool videos were shot in London to promote the album: "Who Wants to Be Lonely," "Uh! All Night" and "Tears Are Falling." Those three vids received very heavy play on the MTV station where I worked. Kiss went on tour and our camera crew went backstage, met Kiss and interviewed drummer Eric Carr at a venue where the band appeared along with opening act W.A.S.P. Those were the days, my friend.

Thank you very much for your visit and comment, dear friend Birgit!

  19. I saw this and had to guess this post was a too much coffee or an April Fools Day post !
What a good idea for a post.
And I loved The Good Guys. I thought it one of the cleverest shows ever ! I miss it.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. Hi, Gayle!

Thanks for coming, my dear friend! I'm glad you realized I was poking you for April Fool's Day and didn't believe I would really pull the plug on the Shady Dell. :) You are the second reader who brought up The Good Guys, a favorite show in the Shady household. I remember Belle Unruh telling me she watched it, too. Funny and entertaining as the series was, there weren't enough viewers to keep it on the air.

Thank you again for your kind visit and comment, dear friend Gayle. I wish you and thehamish a very happy weekend!

  20. Very nice mixture of lyrics and legalese porn (aka hot lawyer wimmen)! I have to admit.. I was fooled for a minute.

    1. Hi, Mary!

Thanks for coming by, dear friend! Do you remember any of these series and characters? I am always curious to find out which readers have watched the TV series that Mrs. Shady and I loved. The only ones she hasn't seen are Girls Club and the lawyers on Y & R because she doesn't watch soaps. All the rest are shows we have watched together.

Thanks again for taking a peek at my annual April Fool's Day post, dear friend Mary!

  21. Totally off topic.
OMGosh, Shady. Valerie has the most hilarious song posted at her blog, I've ever heard. Leaving the addie in case you want to hear it. Or maybe you all ready have: Who The ..... Is Alice?

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Hi again, dear Sandra!

I remember that song from early 1977 but I haven't heard it since it dropped off the chart that year. The embellishment of the song in the video you recommended is indeed very funny and I thank you for sharing. :)

Have a wonderful weekend, dear Sandra!

    2. Of course, you would all ready be familiar with this song. (Head slap)
Do you have any cats, Shady?

    3. Hi, Sandra!

I am currently living in a place where pets are prohibited but, in recent years, I bonded with two stray cats that lived on my property. That's how I came to understand and love cats.

      Happy Monday, dear friend!

    4. Good for you, Shady. Strays need all the help they can get.
You and Mrs. Shady have a wondrous Tuesday.

  22. I thought, "This is a very strange post." I always get caught by April Fools jokes! Someone got me on Facebook too. I was thinking, "I hope Mrs. Shady isn't jealous of these pretty lawyers."

I only know Julianna M. out of all the women. I always liked her on ER. I don't really watch much TV any more. I mostly go on the internet, play video games or read.

I actually didn't mind the song by Kiss. Surprised? Well, it did have a bit of a tune there. Lol Happy April, Tom.

    1. Hi, dear Belle!

Thank you for coming to see what I decided to do for April Fool's Day this year. Mrs. Shady loves TV legal dramas and got us started watching most of these shows. I forgot to add another favorite show of hers, Drop Dead Diva, on Lifetime. Every law show has beautiful women in the cast and Mrs. Shady didn't seem to mind me saluting some of my favorites. Drop Dead Diva's Kate Levering could have been added to my picture gallery:

I'm surprised you don't remember Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show, which was filmed in Calgary, Alberta. Yessum, Julianna Margulies is a wonderful actress who had the good fortune of landing in two iconic TV series - ER and The Good Wife. In between, in 2008, she starred in another legal drama, Canterbury's Law, which Mrs. Shady and I both enjoyed and hated to see come to an abrupt end because of the TV writers' strike.

I'm happy to know you gave the Kiss song a chance and found that you like it. If you read they lyrics I'm sure you agree that they are inspiring and empowering.

Thank you again for dropping by, dear friend Belle. I wish you a very happy week ahead.

      God bless!

You talkin' to me?
