Sorry Folks... Walley World's Closed!

Sorry folks, park's closed.

Moose out front shoulda told ya.

Hello, I'm Shady Del Knight.
If you're like me, your sides are splitting right about now as you recall the misadventures of Clark Griswold and his family in Gone With the Wind National Lampoon's Vacation. Reminding you of this scene from the movie is my way of letting you know that, effective immediately, I need to take another break from blogging. I urge you to remain calm. Please don't run through the streets in panic. Shady Dell Music & Memories is not really "closing." Your home away from home will remain open 24-7 just as it has all these years. The only difference is that I will not be here to publish new posts or to visit and comment on your blog. You see, I am relocating to another city and for the next couple of weeks I will need to focus all my time and energy on packing, moving and getting set up in my new residence.

Please be patient. I shall return. I will miss you,
dear friend. Please take good care of yourself
and I'll see you next month.

Have a Shady day!

Happy Birthday, John!

 John Ettline was born

 109 years ago today on

 the 12th of March, 1906.
John was a wise man and he shared

his wisdom with all of us. I thought

it fitting for us to watch a video

that offers the kind of advice

 John would have dispensed.

I also invite you to listen to this

timeless message of hope as we

 remember our leader,

 Mr. John Ettline.

 Happy birthday, John!

We love you and miss you!

It's My Party & I'll Dance If I Want To

Millions were shocked and saddened by

the recent death of singer, songwriter

actress and activist Lesley Gore.

When Lesley passed away at the age of 68,
baby boomers lost another major contributor
to the soundtrack of their youth.

Named after Lesley's signature song and
styled after mid 60s girl groups, It's My Party
is a trio founded in the mid 80s by Rochester
drummer and record collector John Giotto.

In the beginning, It's My Party consisted of adult
women who covered 80s girl groups. The act
evolved into a trio of teenagers who sing
popular and obscure songs recorded
by girl groups of the 60s.

It's My Party also performs original songs written
exclusively for them by 21st century songwriters
who know the genre, modern compositions that
capture the fun and innocence of pop music
as it was in the early and mid 60s.

The lineup of It's My Party has changed repeatedly
over the years as girls age and leave the group
and new teenage members are recruited.

Backed by Giotto and his band of experienced
musicians, It's My Party performs live shows and
makes studio recordings and videos.  Together
they produce the authentic look, sound and
feel of the classic girl group period.

I invite you to enjoy a concert in the park as the
various incarnations of It's My Party entertain you.

"You Baby"

"On the Beach Tonight"

"Will You Be Staying After Sunday"

"The Boy Next Door"

"He Was Really Sayin' Somethin'"
(original by The Velvelettes)

"Wanna Make Him Mine"

I hope by now you agree.

It's My Party is no lame karaoke act.

These girls brings it back alive!

The latest news has the It's My Party girls back
in the recording studio and updating their act
for 2015, rehearsing for their annual series of
summertime shows across western New York.

 This is one party that

 I hope will never end!

Have a Shady day!
