It's Decision Time, America, and the Stakes Have Never Been Higher!

Before you cast your vote...

think long and hard...

and ask the tough questions!

Is he the right man for the job?

In these uncertain times, does he possess
the qualities we look for in a leader?

Can we trust his judgement?

(As this picture indicates, we most certainly can't!)

Most importantly, what did he know...
and when did he know it?

(ANSWER: nothing... and never.)

Tired of all the finger pointing?

Next Tuesday, make your vote count.

Send

 Shady Del Knight

back to

Shady Dell Music & Memories

for four more years as your host!

"And so my fellow Americans...

Ask not what Shady Del Knight can do for you...

Ask what you can do for Shady Del Knight."

  10. OMG! I can't quit smiling and laughing-you've made my weekend Shady! I mean, I do have my Scootie here, but, you've brought on the best of the last laughs!

Sorry, I couldn't make it by earlier, but what a treat! You're number 1 on my ballot, for sure! I seriously just can't figure out what to do about voting...can't help it! And, I'm afraid of getting accosted at the polls to sway one way or another.

I read the last sentence of your last reply-" Accepting the outcome of the election and upholding the American tradition of a peaceful transition of power." That will be the key!

Give me strength! I've not openly expressed an opinion to anyone, anywhere! I would close my eyes and push a button, but I can't!

How did you say you spell your last name? LOL! Just kidding-but, you're a winner by a landslide to host SDM&M!

P.S. Like your photo drinking at the well! See you soon! ♫

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

How are you today, dear friend? I'm very happy to see you. Thanks for coming over to cast your vote in favor of four more years of the incumbent, Shady Del Knight, as host of SDMM.

I'm excited to know you got a chuckle out of my bogus political post. That picture showing young Shady drinking from a well that is clearly marked "unfit" was my father's idea. A lifelong shutterbug, my dad loved trick photography and frequently enlisted family members to create sight gags like that one. The picture was snapped in mountainous Potter County, northern PA, at Cherry Springs State Park. My family went there for summer vacations and stayed in a log cabin.

As for the presidential election, you can always feel free to express your opinion here on SDMM or in a private email to me. While I am happy when my friends' opinions, values and beliefs match mine, I try hard to maintain friendships with folks on the opposite side of the spectrum. It has been a bitterly divisive campaign, a Civil War of the 21st century, and I pray that the period of Reconstruction that begins November 9 will be one of healing and national unity. "A house divided against itself cannot stand," said Abraham Lincoln.

Thank you again for coming, dear friend Suzanne, and for your kind vote of confidence. Enjoy your Sunday!

Thank you also for this vote of confidence to continue my serious and important work :) here at SDMM. Mrs. Shady will love you for quoting Emma Goldman :)

If elected Tuesday to another four year term I promise to give you something to think about and something to smile about in every post. I don't know for sure which side of the aisle you are on in the presidential election. It doesn't matter to me because, year in and year out, you have proven yourself to be one of the best friends I ever had. I am very grateful to have you here in my little corner of the world, Diedre.

  13. After much deliberation, and soul searching, I have responded to each of your queries:

#1: I will vote for you only if you have declared bankruptcy at least three times, preferably 6.

#2: Arrogance, pomposity and total disregard for the truth are qualities that I and apparently much of America are looking for.

#3: As long as your emails are vetted by the FBI - I can't allow anything too Shady.

#4: If the last three months is an indicator, the herd mentality is that a candidate must know nothing and pretend to know everything. Since you have a music and memories expertise, I'm going to have to think long and hard about supporting you. What the hell, why not?

#4: Finger pointing? It has been my experience that it's never good to get in a pissing experience with a skunk.

    1. Hi, Robert!

Thank you very much for dropping by!

It seems that you, like millions of other Americans, are wrestling with "Decision 2016." (Remember... Shady will go to the mat for you!) Clearly you aren't exactly behind me 1000%, but I'll take your vote any way I can get it.

I will reply to your responses one by one.

#1: Yes, I am bankrupt. That's why it is vitally important (and not too late) for you to empty your account and send me your whole retirement nest egg. I'll make you proud!

      #2: WRONG WRONG WRONG!

      LIAR LIAR LIAR!

I am not arrogant and pompous, and please remember to show respect by addressing me as "your highness" or "your royal majesty" (pick one).

#3: Rest assured, I have never tried to hide my clandestine affair with Pee-wee Herman.

#4: I really don't know much about music and my memory is fading. Thank heaven for Wiki!

Second #4: True. I made that same mistake with a lowland Gorilla.

Thanks again for your comment, Robert. Now get out there and vote early... and often! :)

I borrowed a few campaign slogans from the past to cast my vote for Shady:

"In your heart you know he's right" - about music and Dell times of old.

"He's making us proud again." - to be part of this blog.

"Are you better off than 4 years ago?" Yep, I sure know a lot more about popular music than I ever thought possible given my background.

"Don't stop thinking about tomorrow." - to see what fun posts are waiting.

"Leave no child behind". - or any reader who visits and comments, or any artist who's not gotten the fame they deserve.

"Don't swap horses in the middle of a stream." Just like Lincoln said, why turn this blog over to anyone else, because they're not as knowledgeable or fun!

"Happy Days are Here Again". They never left SDM&M!

Thank you very much for joining the fun and exercising your right to vote for the Shady Del Knight of your choice. :)

Yessum, in your heart you know I'm right... extreme right.

I appreciated your creative use of campaign slogans of the past as they apply to the future of SDMM... a future so bright you will need to wear Shady. I would also like to remind you of something I prove here week in and week out, and year in and year out:

"A mind is a terrible thing..."

Thank you again for the kind and supportive words, dear friend Kathleen. Keep your fingers crossed that we will wake up happy Wednesday morning. (I woke up grouchy today. Shoulda let her sleep. :)

  16. I would vote for almost anyone except the two running for president so I guess you will get my vote. I can't believe they are the two best the parties have to offer. Better vote for Shady not Twiddlely Dee or Twiddlely Dumb. I don't know which is which but I wouldn't buy either a beer. I'll vote Shady since I would at least buy him a Rolling Rock pony at the Skellar (Not the My).

How are you doing, good buddy? Thanks for coming over to witness history in the making as I pull out all the stops (and make whole bunches of promises I can't keep) in my bid for reelection to an unprecedented third term as host of SDMM. It helps that I am running unopposed. :)

If the candidates are Twiddlely Dee and Twiddlely Dumb, then I stake my claim to the nickname Twiddlely Dumber. :) You are 24+ years too late to buy me a beer, good buddy, since I quit cold turkey (and booze), but I would gladly have an unsweetened iced tea with you or club soda with a wedge of lime.

Thanks again for dropping in to show support, good buddy Jerre. Have a great week and come back again soon!

  19. So many questions. Who is opposing you? Who's your running mate? What is your stand on lemonade? Can you be trusted with the keys to the city? I hope these issues will be addressed. I want to make an informed decision before I vote for curator of the Shady Del.

    1. Hi, Jeffrey!

Welcome back to Shady Dell Music & Memories, good buddy! As always you have been missed.

To answer your flurry of questions, Mrs. Shady opposes me on many issues, although she and I are in total agreement about the presidential race.

If you meant to ask Hoosier running mate, the answer is Rupert Boneham of Survivor. :)

My stand on lemonade is as follows. If life gives you a lemon, it means you should have voted for Hillary instead.

Can I be trusted with the keys to the city? No, but you can trust me with the keys to the liquor cabinet because I haven't touched a drop in nearly 25 years.

Thank you for carefully pondering your decision before voting for the next Dell curator. I hope you are making an equally informed decision about the national election.

Take care, Jeffrey, and enjoy the rest of your week!
