      YOU HAVE FAILED THIS CITY!

Sorry, I just had to use that line. :)

      Hi, Kathryn!

Thanks for popping in for this sneak preview of Friday night's main event, a wild and woolly all-nighter at club Verdant in Starling City, home to Oliver and Thea Queen and the rest of the characters in Arrow. I'm delighted that we both love this series and enjoy watching it practically every night. Do you agree that Thea looks cuter with her hair shorter?

Thanks again, Kathryn, and have a happy Sunday!

    1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Thank you very much for dropping by this morning, dear friend!

This Friday night event was conceived as a "one and done" affair, but there's always the chance it could evolve into a series.

I look forward to seeing you Friday at midnight. Please remember to say the password "CANARY" or you won't get in. :) Also, since you are underage (under age 40) you will need to be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. :)

Thanks again for coming over, dear friend JM, and enjoy your week!

      YOU HAVE FAILED THIS CITY!

      Hi, Chris!

Yessir, your prayers have been answered. You've got yourself a V.I.P. pass to my next midnight rave party - this one to be held Friday night at Verdant, Star City's premier nightclub. Check your work schedule. If you're slated to work Saturday morning - call in sick. This is more important! :)

I hope to see you there, good buddy Chris. Thanks for dropping by and have a great week!

    1. Hi, Alex!

Thanks for coming over, good buddy!

Yessir, please double check that password before arriving at the door Friday night. If you mistakenly use "CODE BLUE" - the password to get into Riley's Rave - you'll wind up with an arrow in your back. :)

I hope to see your face in the place (Verdant disco, Starling City, Arrowverse) this Friday night at midnight!

      Have a great week, Alex!

    1. Hi, Michele!

Thanks for coming over on your Sunday, dear friend!

I highly recommend Arrow, based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. It is Mrs. Shady's favorite series (tied with The Good Wife) and my favorite series tied with From Dusk Till Dawn, Prison Break, American Horror Story, Damages and a few others.

Thank you for pledging to come to the midnight bash, dear friend Michele, and have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

I'm very happy to see you again today, dear friend!

In the two years that you have been away from SDMM, my taste in music has expanded to include modern electronic dance-pop. I have also begun to shake things up a bit with regard to post scheduling. The event promoted by this post, the virtual rave coming up this Friday night, will be my second "midnight special," a post published at midnight eastern time instead of my usual 5 am eastern time. It is intended to appeal to the night owls among us - friends who love to stay up late. It's exciting when a group of people meet at an agreed hour and place and have a party in real time. This is my way of replicating the dance hall experience at the Shady Dell in the 60s, the only difference being that a DJ will be playing today's EDM sounds instead of oldies.

Thank you again for coming, Suzanne. Say hello to Scootie for me and have a safe and happy week!

    1. Hi, Birgit!

You have failed your city? We can't let that happen! :)

Thanks for joining the fun, dear friend. If you don't care for comic superheroes then Arrow might not be for you, but it's a fun series and Mrs. S and I are both hooked on it. I invite you to attend Thea's Rave this Friday night at midnight. If you're early to bed, then I hope you will swing by any time during the six days that follow.

Thanks, BB, and have a great week!

  8. I've never seen Arrow or even heard of it...sorry! I'm probably going to be sound asleep after a busy OR day but if not I'll just have to get a responsible adult to accompany me to this event! I'm sure it will be smashing! Enjoy this lovely Sunday and this first week of September!

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Yessum, happy September to you! Are the leaves changing color up your way?

Everybody seems puzzled by this post. :) I seem to have a knack for saluting TV series that few if any of my friends watch. :) Maybe that's because I have the mind of a 16 year old and choose my entertainment accordingly. The odd thing is that Mrs. Shady loves the series, too, and we watch it together on Netflix just about every night of the week.

I will certainly understand if you are fast asleep Friday at midnight. The rave (post) runs for six days so there is plenty of time for you to come over and dance next weekend and the following week.

Thank you very much for your visit and comment, dear friend YaYa, and have a wonderful week!

  9. Hi Shady!
Admittedly, I had never heard of Arrow (gasp!) so I googled the series - wow! I'm not even sure the show was on out here, but at least there are avenues that will allow me to see it. AFTER your late night show, of course;-) I won't even need a chaperone because 40 was the golden age I finally quit getting carded! Have a splendid Sunday, dear friend. And happy September!

  10. Hi, Diedre!

(I was unable to get the REPLY function to work.)

Thank you very much for coming over, dear friend!

Arrow is shown on the CW Network and is also available on Netflix. It is a sister show to The Flash, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, three other superhero TV series that Mrs. S and I love to watch. It was nice of you to Google Arrow to get some background info. I hope that enhances the fun when you come to Thea's Rave this Friday night. It will start at midnight eastern time which would be 9 pm out west where you live. If that's still too late to get a party started then I invite you join the fun anytime during the post's six day run.

You must be incredibly youthful to have been carded until age 40! I will let the burly bouncer know you're coming to the dance so that he can wave you through the door and not have to check i.d. :)

Thank you ever so much for stopping in, dear friend Diedre, and have a great week ahead!

  11. Ok, Shady, count me in for the 9th, too. (if I'm up!) I'm not familiar with Arrow but will be anxiously awaiting what you have in store for us!

    1. Hi, Toni!

Thanks a lot for dropping in tonight, dear friend!

I'm happy to know you think you can make it over to Thea's Rave this Friday night. Once inside the door you will meet and greet the cast of the CW Network television series Arrow. If you need directions to club Verdant in Starling City (aka Star City) you can program your GPS. :) Don't forget the password: CANARY. If you say TURKEY BUZZARD you'll be turned away. :)

I look forward to seeing your face in the place Friday at midnight eastern. Until then have a safe and happy week, dear friend Toni!

  12. Hi, Shady; Even though I'm not familiar with "Arrow", I'll be sure to check out your new series. Since 40 was over two decades ago (GASP!), you'll let me in unaccompanied, yes? ☺ Have a great week!

    1. Hi, Debbie the Doglady!

Thank you for coming down dear friend! (I've been on the road for days and just now got home.)

You aren't the only one who's not familiar with Arrow. So far I think Mrs. Shady and I are the only ones here who watch it! :)

Even though you claim to be over the age of 40 (I have my doubts), I foresee problems getting you past the burly bouncer at the door simply because you don't look a day over 29. :) I'll be sure to alert him that you are coming and he'll wave you through.

As you might suspect, the music that will be played Friday night at Thea's Rave will fall into your dreaded "NO THANKS" category. :) Even so, I value your friendship and love it when you come to visit me. If you can't be there in real time Friday night, then I hope you'll stop by sometime during the six days that follow.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Debbie!

    2. You flatter me! I have clothes older than 29. ☺ Yes, Rave music isn't my taste, but who doesn't love a good party? I don't like Disco either, but we still had a blast in that era. It was all about the ambiance, not necessarily the music.

    3. Hi, Debbie!

I have jars of mayo at the back of the fridge that are older than 29! :)

That's right, Debbie. It's good to be around people who like you and welcome you, and that's what you will always find here at SDMM. I'm giving you a lifetime pass to all future raves. :) You might surprise yourself and like some of the songs on Friday's playlist. There are at least a couple of artists in the post that have voices closer to Cher than to Minnie Mouse. :)

Thanks for the extra visit, dear friend Debbie!

  13. I had no idea what you were talking about until you mentioned Arrow. I've watched parts of episodes--maybe one complete episode--but I've still not gotten into the show. I like The Flash, but that's about the only show that I follow.

    1. Hi, Lee!

How are you, good buddy? Mrs. Shady and I got hooked on superhero shows ten years ago when NBC first introduced the series Heroes. Next we got hooked on the ABC series No Ordinary Family starring Michael Chiklis. These days we are fans of The Flash, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Arrow. I highly recommend all of them.

I hope you can join the fun at Thea's Rave this Friday night at midnight, 9 pm your time.

      Thanks, Lee!

  14. Tom, we watched season one of Arrow, but have yet to return to the series after starting other new ones. However, we will get back on track eventually and this will allow Netflix to stockpile more seasons so when we decide to binge watch then it'll be nice to not crash after only watching a dozen episodes. I really hate how some TV series have only six episodes per season. That's just crazy stupid, if you ask me. Anywho, here's to the new season of Arrow! :)

    1. Hi, Cathy!

      Thanks for coming, dear friend!

So far you are the only other person who has watched at least one season of Arrow! Mrs. S and I are in season 3 on Netflix so there are plenty of new shows available for you and DH to watch. I also recommend The Flash, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Meanwhile I am loving season 2 of from Dusk Till Dawn, the series you recommended to me.

This post is a promo for Thea's Rave, my next midnight special, coming up Friday at midnight. If you can't stay up that late then I hope you'll put on your dancing shoes and head over to Verdant sometime during the post's six day run.

Thanks so much, dear friend Cathy!

  15. Canary? Seriously? Great fun.

Wish I could join in but I pulled the plug on TV years ago. I know. I know. What kind of world citizen am I anyway?

I stopped TV when my son's grades took a dive. Then I just never got back into the habit. So don't ask me anything about a series, but the next time need to get into an exclusive club, I'm going to try using the password, Canary.

    1. Hi, Lee! (Hey, you are my second "Lee" visitor of the day :)

Thank you very much for coming by, dear friend!

You and I have a rare friendship growing here, Lee, because we come from very different backgrounds. You see, I present SDMM from the POV of a 16 year old. I'm afraid you aren't going to be familiar with 99% of what I offer. Meanwhile I will probably feel like a fish out of water on your blog most of the time, surrounded as I am by writers and authors. We will both need to stretch a bit but we can and will make this work. :)

Let me give you the gist of this post and the one coming up Friday. The network TV series Arrow is based on fictional superhero characters in the DC Comics series Green Arrow. Mrs. Shady and I are currently binge watching Arrow on Netflix. The characters are so interesting and enjoyable that I was inspired to use them to promote my upcoming midnight rave party this Friday. You are welcome to attend. (Must say "CANARY" to get through the door. :) I'm sure most or all of the music played at the rave will be foreign to your classically trained ears, but I am hoping you will enjoy some of it nevertheless. The whole idea behind these raves is to challenge you to get in touch with your lost youth. For just one night, just a few minutes, forget that you are an adult. Let yourself go. Wave your hands in the air like you just don't care. Be young again. Be free. By the dawn's early light you may choose to go back to your life as a responsible adult, or you can choose to stay forever young. :)

Thanks again for coming by, dear friend Lee, and enjoy the rest of your week!

How are you, my friend around the world?

Can you get the TV series Arrow down there in Australia? If it's available, Mrs. Shady and I highly recommend it.

You are cordially invited to attend my next rave all-nighter this Friday at midnight eastern U.S. time. According to my calculations, that's 2 pm your time. I hope to see you there, dear friend!
