If you didn't already have a

 headache after last night's party

you probably do now that you

 made the mistake of
watching that video.

 I've got just the thing!

As the year 2013 gets underway I want you to know how much I appreciate your friendship and support (yeah YOU!).
I'm happy to announce that I have plenty of fresh material in the pipeline for the coming year. As always Shady Dell Music & Memories will continue to offer a variety of music spanning 50 years, some of it familiar and much of it new to you.

At this time every year I think about Rick Nelson, the singer-songwriter who perished in a plane crash on New Year's Eve 1985. Rick reminded us that "You can't please everyone so you got to please yourself." With that in mind I will continue to post content that pleases and interests me and hope that some of it also pleases you. During the holidays I presented tons of tunes from the 50s. For those of you who prefer the 80s, 90s and 2000s, I gotcha covered in the weeks ahead.

 January is METAL HEALTH MONTH

here at Shady Dell Music & Memories.

On Friday I will begin my 4 part series

 THE FIRST ANNUAL SHADY AWARDS

in which I salute the best hard rock and

heavy metal songs, videos and bands.

 Hint: Shatner was NOT

 among this year's nominees!

 See you Friday!

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    1. Hi, Ron! "Everybody"? Bloggerville has become a ghost town, my friend. I'm installing an app gadget that will make tumbleweed roll across my blog's home page! (LOL) If you're a fan of hard rock and heavy metal I've got a ton of it coming in the weeks and months ahead. If you're not a fan of hard rock and heavy metal I've got a ton of it coming in the weeks and months ahead. (LOL) Like the late, great Rick Nelson said... (see text). Thank you very much for coming by, good buddy, and happy new year to you!

  3. Hi dear Tom. Well, it's good to know that you have lots of new things coming up for us in the future! I must admit that I am not a fan of hard rock and heavy metal, but, seeing it's you, I'm willing to give it a try!! I liked your comment to Ron about an app for tumbleweed blowing across your blog! The comments on my blog have been pretty sparse lately as well! Good job I can rely on you!! LOL!! Take care dear friend.

    1. Hallo, dear Thisisme! I'm glad you got a chuckle from my reply to Ron. You and I have discussed this many times. From the fall of 2010 until the summer of 2012 my corner of the blogosphere was a beehive of activity. Dozens of bloggers in my circle of friends have since retired. I shall press on, remembering that I had only 4 followers and typically ZERO post comments during the first two years of SDMM. It's ironic that some of the readers who were eager for me to post more modern material are among those now missing in action. Such is the nature of blogging, I suppose. I am very thankful to have you here as my oldest (longest running) bloggy friend. If hard rock and heavy metal are not your cup of tea, then just drop by to say hello and I will be ecstatic. Good night to you in fair (I hope) Devon, dear friend Thisisme!

    1. Hi, Ashton! Not only will you see it, dear friend, you will hear it loud and clear. The sub-genres represented include glam, sleaze and punk metal. Warning: it's not for the faint of heart. I do hope you'll join me this Friday when I present a radical departure from the norm. Who knows... maybe it'll become the new norm. Have a great evening, dear Ashton!

    1. Hi, karen! Happy new year to ya, dear friend! You ain't kiddin'! I never saw it so slow on the blogging scene. It makes me all the more grateful for friends like you who come by to spread some cheer. In the past you let me know you'd appreciate it if I post music from more recent decades (and centuries LOL) so I hope you'll be here Friday as I kick off my four part series dedicated to hard rock and heavy metal bands of the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Tell "L" I got some Kiss in the pipeline. Thank you very much for your visit and comment, dear karen, and I'll be seeing you soon!

  6. Hi Shady! Well, I didn't know William Shatner recorded that horrible song. I always learn things on your blog. I'm looking forward to the hard rock series since I know so little about it. I promise I will keep an open mind. Happy New Year dear friend.

    1. Well, hello there, dear Belle! This is a pleasant surprise. Welcome back to blogging! I'm glad my Shatner piece didn't go to waste because I knew you'd shake your head over his attempt to record heavy metal. We should have a runoff between him and Pat Boone! (LOL) I'm so glad to see you here, dear friend Belle, and I thank you very much for coming. Let's make this year the best ever, okay?

    1. Hi, Jerre! I'll bring it on but I don't have anything in my hard rock/heavy metal series by those particular bands. (Don't worry, no Tiny Tim or Disco Tex & the Sex-O-Lettes either.) I love the thrill of discovery and the artists and songs I will introduce in tomorrow's post were all unknown to me until very recently. Now they're favorites of mine and I hope you find a couple that you enjoy as well. Thanks for reporting in, Jerre, and happy new year to you!
